Prostate Cancer Metastasis

Metastasis refers to the spreading or extending of cancer from original part of the body to another. Even if cancer has spread to another area, the cancer is still referred to as a cancer of the body part it originated in. In prostate cancer, a patient who has a case of prostatic adenocarcinoma that spreads to the bones does not now have osteocarcinoma (cancer of bones) but prostate cancer with distant metastasis.
