Imipramine after Prostate Cancer

Imipramine, trademarked as Tofranil, is a typical tricyclic antidepressant which can be used to treat the symptoms of incontinence that may occur after prostate cancer treatment. Prostate cancer treatment can damage both the urinary bladder and the urinary sphincter. Imipramine decreases the bladder contractions which signal the urge to urinate and helps treat urinary frequency. Imipramine also tightens the muscles in the bladder which can help treat stress incontinence.
