Docetaxel
is chemotherapy drug classified with the taxane group
and used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer
and recurrent prostate cancer. Docetaxel works by stiffening
the microtubules that make up the inner “skeleton”
of a cell. Once the microtubules are locked into place,
the cells, which require malleability to divide successfully,
crumble and die during cell division.
