Prostate- specific Antigen Velocity in Prostate Cancer

The Prostate-specific antigen velocity measures how quickly a PSA level rise. If the prostate-specific antigen has a high velocity, meaning that since the last test, the PSA level has rose very quickly, a patient may have prostate cancer. A DRE is usually the next step if a high PSA velocity leads a doctor to suspect that a patient has prostate cancer.
