Obesity May Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer

Obesity is the condition of having an accumulation of body fat that results in a person being 20 percent over the highest acceptable standard for normal weight according to age and height. Those who suffer from obesity are at an increased risk for many health problems including, but not limited to, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, and, for men, prostate cancer. Some researchers have found links between obesity and the occurrence of prostate cancer. High risk of prostate cancer may occur due to the way fat fuels the production of testosterone which fuels the growth of prostate cells and possibly prostate cancer.
