Morbidity refers to a state of having a disease or the prevalence of a disease within a population. In reference to a prostate cancer treatment outcome, morbidity is the occurrence of prostate cancer in the treated group after their treatment. Clinical trials measure morbidity rates to see whether the treatment is effective. Morbidity rate refers to a proportion of patients with prostate cancer during a certain year and per unit of a population. Those patients who have recurrent prostate cancer as opposed to those patients who do not make up the morbidity rate for a particular study.
