Guanylate Cyclase after Prostate Cancer

Guanylate cyclase is an enzyme that is produced by release of nitric oxide in the penis during times of sexual arousal. Guanylate cyclase converts GTP into cGMP which produces erections. Prostate cancer treatments may result in the inability to produce and maintain erections satisfactory for sexual intercourse, however, prostate cancer treatments are continually advancing in technique and technology that may result in fewer and less severe side effects.
