Condom Catheters after Prostate Cancer Treatment

A condom catheter has the same function as a regular catheter: to treat incontinence. A catheter is inserted through the urethra and into the bladder to drain urine after a prostate cancer treatment. The condom catheter is instead attached to the body in the same manner as the condom used for contraception. Urine exits the body and is drained into a bag that is attached to the leg. Men who are allergic to latex should not use the condom catheters. Also some doctors argue that a condom catheter works as a crutch for men who are trying to regain control of their bladder function.
