Chemotherapy refers
to a group of drugs used to combat cancerous cells and
whose effect is systemic. Patients with advanced prostate
cancer, hormone refractory prostate cancer, and prostate
cancer with distant metastasis will sometimes use chemotherapy
for treatment. Common prostate cancer chemotherapy drugs
are mitoxantrone, estramustine phosphate, etoposide,
paclitaxel, docetaxel, doxorubicin, and vinblastine.
