Chemotherapy for Prostate Cancer

Chemotherapy refers to a group of drugs used to combat cancerous cells and whose effect is systemic. Patients with advanced prostate cancer, hormone refractory prostate cancer, and prostate cancer with distant metastasis will sometimes use chemotherapy for treatment. Common prostate cancer chemotherapy drugs are mitoxantrone, estramustine phosphate, etoposide, paclitaxel, docetaxel, doxorubicin, and vinblastine.
