CAB in Prostate Cancer Hormone Therapy

CAB is the abbreviation for combined androgen blockade and is a type of prostate cancer hormone therapy which combines an anti-androgen with either chemical castration or surgical castration. 90 to 95 percent testosterone is produced by the testicles while 5 to 10 percent is produced by the adrenal glands. Combined androgen blockade ablates 100 percent of the testosterone present in the blood stream. Combined androgen blockade is also known as total androgen blockade and combined hormone blockade.
