Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer

Brachytherapy is a form of radiation therapy and interstitial therapy used as a prostate cancer treatment. There are two types brachytherapy: low dose rate ( LDR) which uses permanent seeds and high dose rate ( HDR) which uses temporary interstitial radiation. Brachytherapy is an effective prostate cancer treatment which is capable of delivering concentrated doses of radiation to the prostate gland and the seminal vesicles due to the cloud of radiation created by permanent radioactive seeds.
