Bone metastasis
can occur in advanced prostate cancer stages. Cells
break off from the primary tumor and, through the process
of angiogenesis, travel the blood until they become
stuck in a bone. The cancerous cells begin to multiply
uncontrollably resulting in prostate cancer bone metastasis.
Bone metastasis is usually extremely painful for the
patient, but the pain can be alleviated through prostate
cancer chemotherapy,
hormone
therapy, radioisotopes,
and external
beam radiation therapy (EBRT).
