Biologic therapy uses biological response modifiers (BRM), such as antibodies and growth factors that are naturally produced by the body, to boost the immune system, restore natural defenses, and direct them toward fighting disease. Vaccines are another form of biological therapy since they also work to strengthen the immune system and help the body heal itself. Prostate cancer patients may use biologic therapy to fight cancer as well as diminish side effects caused by other cancer treatments.
