Beta-carotene
is a nutrient that is found in dark leafy green vegetables
and deep yellow vegetables fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene
is related to vitamin A, but, unlike vitamin A, does
not accumulate in the body and cause vitamin toxicity.
Some researchers believe that consuming beta-carotene
reduces one’s risk of prostate cancer, but other
believe that consuming a diet high in sources of beta-carotene
(i.e. fruits and vegetables) is more likely a reason
for the possible decrease in prostate cancer risk.
