Apoptosis in Prostate Cancer

Apoptosis is also known as programmed cell death. Apoptosis can be thought of a cell suicide which is advantageous to the cell’s organism. Apoptosis can also be thought of as natural cell death when contrasted with necrosis which is the death of a cell due to injury or disease. Some researchers believe that the circumvention of apoptosis can cause cancer. Chemotherapy drugs are designed to restore apoptosis in prostate cancer cells in hopes of ablating the disease.
