Angiogenesis and Prostate Cancer Metastasis

Angiogenesis is the growth of new blood vessels and the process through which cancer spreads to other areas of the body. Cells break off the tumor and essentially “hitch a ride” on a blood vessel. In prostate cancer, metastasis of any type makes monotherapy an unacceptable treatment. Prostate cancer patients with metastasis to the lymph nodes or bones or other type of distant metastasis will probably have to undergo more than one type of prostate cancer treatment.
