Tumor doubling time
refers to the amount of time a tumor takes to double
in size. In prostate cancer, a low tumor doubling time
means that the tumor is growing rapidly in size and
may indicate a more aggressive form of the disease.
A high tumor doubling time means that the prostate cancer
cells are growing more slowly. Patients whose prostate
cancer is growing very slowly may be candidates for
watchful waiting.
