Stranded seeds
are permanent brachytherapy seeds used as a prostate
cancer treatment that are linked together. The material
that links the seeds together is a suture that is eventually
absorbed by the body. Stranded seeds come preloaded
in a brachytherapy needle according to the prescription.
Some researchers believe that uses stranded seeds for
prostate brachytherapy can reduce the incident of seed
migration out of the body or into the lungs.
