Radical Prostatectomy as a Prostate Cancer Treatment

The radical prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the entire prostate gland. If the disease is confined within the gland, then removing the organ will remove cancer for the body. Radical prostatectomy is one of the oldest treatments for prostate cancer, but today, there are several forms of the surgery available in the treatment of prostate cancer: radical retropubic prostatectomy, perineal prostatectomy, laparoscopic prostatectomy, and robotic prostatectomy.
