NANC is shorthand
for nonadrenergic, noncholinergic and refers to a neuron
which is responsible for the nitric oxide that starts
the chemical cycle which produces an erection. The NANC
neuron is pathway by which the brain tells the penis
the body is in a state arousal. Damage to this neuron
during certain prostate cancer treatments could result
in impotence.
